Email Verification Problems

Running into issues while verifying emails with Valid Email Checker? Most verification problems have straightforward solutions. Let's get your verifications running smoothly.

"Insufficient Credits for Verification"

This is the most common verification issue—you've run out of credits.

What's Happening

Every email you verify uses one credit. When your balance hits zero, verifications stop until you add more credits.

How to Fix It

  1. Go to Buy Credits in your dashboard
  2. Choose a credit package that fits your needs
  3. Complete your purchase
  4. Return to verification—you're good to go!

Checking Your Balance

You can always see your current credit balance in the top navigation bar of your dashboard. Keep an eye on it during large verification jobs so you're not caught off guard.

Preventing This in the Future

Consider enabling Auto-Refill if you verify emails regularly. Auto-Refill automatically purchases credits when your balance drops below a threshold you set. No more interrupted verifications.

To enable Auto-Refill:

  1. Toggle on Auto-Refill
  2. Click Configure Auto-Refill
  3. Set your threshold and refill amount
  4. Save your settings

Team Member Credit Message

If you're a team member and see this message:

"Your account owner does not have enough credits. Please contact them to add more credits."

What's Happening

As a team member, you use credits from your team owner's account. When their balance runs out, you can't verify either.

How to Fix It

Reach out to your team owner and let them know the account needs more credits. You can find your team owner's contact information in your account settings, or simply send them a message through your usual communication channels.

Unfortunately, team members can't purchase credits directly—only the account owner can manage the credit balance.

Understanding "Unknown" Status Results

Sometimes a verification comes back with an "unknown" status. This doesn't mean something went wrong—it's actually a valid result.

What "Unknown" Means

An "unknown" status means we couldn't definitively determine whether the email is deliverable. This happens when:

  • The email server didn't respond clearly
  • The server's security blocked our verification check
  • There was a temporary issue with the recipient's mail server
  • The server uses advanced protection that masks mailbox existence

What Should I Do With Unknown Results?

You have a few options:

Wait and retry - Sometimes the issue is temporary. Try verifying again in a few hours or the next day.

Send with caution - Unknown emails aren't necessarily bad. Some legitimate corporate email servers return unknown results due to strict security. Consider sending to these addresses but monitor for bounces.

Remove if risk-averse - If you're very concerned about bounce rates, you can exclude unknown results from your campaigns.

Good News About Unknown Results

Valid Email Checker automatically refunds credits for emails that return an "unknown" status. Since we couldn't complete the verification, you're not charged for it.

Verification Taking Too Long

Single email verifications typically complete in 1-3 seconds. If you're waiting much longer, something might be off.

Why Verifications Slow Down

  • Complex email server - Some servers take longer to respond than others
  • High traffic - During peak times, verifications may queue briefly
  • Network issues - Temporary connectivity problems between systems

What to Do

For single verifications:

  • Wait a bit longer—some servers are genuinely slow
  • If it's been more than 30 seconds, refresh the page and try again
  • Try a different email to see if the issue is specific to one address

For bulk verifications:

  • Bulk jobs process many emails and take time by design
  • Check the progress bar for estimated completion
  • You can navigate away—the verification continues in the background

Timeout Errors

If you receive a timeout error, it means the verification couldn't complete in the allowed time. This is usually due to the recipient's email server being slow or unresponsive.

Try again later - The server might be temporarily overloaded. Wait an hour and retry.

Verification Failed Completely

Occasionally, a verification fails entirely rather than returning a status.

Common Causes

  • Temporary system issue - Brief technical hiccups happen
  • Network connectivity - Connection was interrupted
  • Server maintenance - Rare scheduled maintenance

How to Fix It

  1. Wait a moment and try again—most failures are temporary
  2. Refresh the page to ensure you have a fresh session
  3. Check your internet connection - Make sure you're connected
  4. Try a different email to see if the issue is widespread or specific

If Failures Persist

If you're experiencing repeated failures:

  1. Check our website for any service announcements
  2. Try again in 15-30 minutes
  3. Contact support@validemailchecker.com if the problem continues

We monitor our systems 24/7 and address issues quickly.

Unexpected Verification Results

Sometimes you might disagree with a verification result—maybe an email you know works came back as invalid.

Why This Can Happen

Temporary server issues - The recipient's server might have been down temporarily during our check.

Server configuration - Some servers are configured in unusual ways that affect verification accuracy.

Recent changes - The email might have been valid yesterday but was disabled today.

What to Do

Retry the verification - If you suspect the result is wrong, verify again. Results can change based on server conditions.

Trust but verify - Our accuracy is over 98%, but no verification service is perfect. For critical emails, consider sending a confirmation email.

Check the status explanation - Each result includes a reason explaining why we classified it that way. This can help you understand the result.

If you consistently see results you believe are inaccurate, let us know at support@validemailchecker.com. We're always improving our verification algorithms and your feedback helps.

Can't Start Any Verifications

If the verification feature seems completely non-functional:

Check These First

  1. Are you logged in? - Your session might have expired
  2. Is your account in good standing? - Check for any suspension notices
  3. Do you have credits? - Even one credit is needed to verify
  4. Is your browser up to date? - Older browsers can cause issues

Try These Fixes

  1. Log out and log back in
  2. Clear your browser cache and cookies
  3. Try a different browser
  4. Disable browser extensions temporarily

Verification Results Disappeared

You verified emails but can't find the results?

Where to Find Results

Single verifications: Results display immediately on screen. They're not saved permanently—if you navigate away, you'll need to verify again.

Bulk verifications: All bulk results are saved in Uploads & Results for 15 days. Go there to view, download, or manage your verification history.

Results Missing from Uploads?

If a bulk verification result isn't showing:

  1. Make sure the verification completed (check for processing status)
  2. Results older than 15 days are automatically deleted
  3. Check if you're in the right account (if you have multiple)

Credit Charged but No Result

If credits were deducted but you didn't see a verification result:

What Likely Happened

The verification probably completed, but:

  • The page refreshed or closed before results displayed
  • A network issue interrupted the result delivery
  • The browser tab crashed

What to Do

For bulk verifications: Check Uploads & Results—your results should be there.

For single verifications: Unfortunately, single verification results aren't saved. You'd need to verify the email again.

Concerned About Lost Credits?

If you believe you were charged incorrectly, contact support@validemailchecker.com with the email address you tried to verify and the approximate time. We can check our logs and ensure you weren't overcharged.
