Password Reset Issues
Forgot your password? It happens to everyone. If you're having trouble resetting your Valid Email Checker password, this guide will help you sort it out.
"This Password Reset Link Has Expired"
Reset links are only valid for 1 hour after they're sent. This is a security measure—we don't want old links floating around in your inbox that someone could use later.
How to Fix It
Simply request a new reset link:
- Go to the Valid Email Checker login page
- Click Forgot Password
- Enter your email address
- Check your inbox for the new link
- Click it within 1 hour
When you receive a reset email, take care of it right away. If you're not ready to reset your password at that moment, wait until you are before requesting the link.
"This Password Reset Link Is Invalid"
An invalid link usually means something went wrong with the URL itself.
Common Causes
- Link was cut off - If you copied the link from your email and didn't get the whole thing
- Link was modified - Some email clients or security software modify links
- Link was corrupted - Occasionally technical issues can corrupt the reset token
How to Fix It
- Go back to your email and try clicking the link directly rather than copying it
- If that doesn't work, request a new password reset link
- Try using a different email client or the web version of your email
Still Getting Invalid Link Errors?
If you keep getting invalid link errors even with fresh reset requests:
- Try a different browser
- Clear your browser cache and cookies
- Disable any VPN or proxy you might be using
- Contact support if the problem persists
"This Reset Link Has Already Been Used"
Each password reset link works exactly once. After you've used it to reset your password, it's deactivated permanently.
Why You Might See This
- You already reset your password - Maybe you forgot you already did it? Try logging in with your new password.
- Someone else used it - If you didn't use the link yourself, someone with access to your email might have. You should reset your password immediately and consider changing your email password too.
- Clicked the link twice - Sometimes people click the link, reset their password, then click the email link again later.
How to Fix It
Request a new password reset link and use it to set a fresh password. If you're concerned about unauthorized access, contact support@validemailchecker.com.
Password Reset Email Never Arrived
You requested a reset link but it's nowhere to be found. Let's track it down.
Check These Places First
Your spam folder - This is the #1 place reset emails end up. Email providers sometimes flag automated emails as spam.
Promotions or Updates tab - If you use Gmail, check these tabs. Google sometimes sorts transactional emails away from your primary inbox.
The correct email account - Are you checking the email address you actually signed up with? It's easy to mix up similar addresses.
Wait a Few Minutes
Email delivery isn't always instant. Sometimes there's a delay of 2-5 minutes, especially if email servers are busy. Give it a few minutes before requesting another link.
Request Again
If it's been more than 10 minutes and you've checked everywhere:
- Go to the login page and click Forgot Password again
- Double-check you're entering the correct email address
- Watch your inbox (including spam) for the new email
Check Your Email Provider
Some corporate email systems or strict spam filters block automated emails entirely. If you're using a work email with aggressive filtering, try:
- Adding our email domain to your safe senders list
- Using a personal email instead
- Contacting your IT department to whitelist our emails
Still Nothing?
If you've waited, checked spam, and requested multiple times with no luck:
- Make sure the email address you're entering is exactly the one you registered with
- Try the password you think you have—maybe you don't actually need to reset
- Contact support@validemailchecker.com and we'll help verify your account and get you back in
"Passwords Do Not Match"
When setting your new password, you need to enter it twice to confirm. This error means the two entries don't match.
How to Fix It
- Clear both password fields
- Carefully type your new password in the first field
- Type it again exactly the same way in the confirmation field
- Make sure Caps Lock isn't on (or is consistently on/off for both)
- Check for accidental spaces at the beginning or end
Tip: Use a Password Manager
Password managers like 1Password, Bitwarden, or LastPass can generate strong passwords and fill both fields identically. This eliminates typos and gives you a more secure password.
Password Requirements
When creating your new password, make sure it meets our requirements:
- Minimum 6 characters - Longer is better for security
- No other restrictions - We don't require special characters or numbers, but they're a good idea
Password Tips
While we keep our requirements simple, here are some tips for a strong password:
- Use a passphrase (multiple words) rather than a single word
- Mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols
- Don't reuse passwords from other sites
- Consider using a password manager
Resetting Password When You Have 2FA Enabled
If you have two-factor authentication enabled, you'll still need to complete 2FA verification after resetting your password. Make sure you have access to your authenticator app before starting the reset process.
Don't Have Access to Your Authenticator?
If you've lost your 2FA device and need to reset your password, contact support@validemailchecker.com. We'll need to verify your identity before we can help you reset both your password and 2FA.
Account Recovery Best Practices
To avoid future lockouts:
Keep Your Email Secure
Your email is the key to account recovery. If someone has access to your email, they can reset your Valid Email Checker password. Keep your email account secure with a strong, unique password and 2FA.
Save Your 2FA Backup Codes
When you set up two-factor authentication, we provide backup codes. Save these somewhere safe—they're your emergency access if you lose your authenticator.
Remember Which Email You Used
It sounds obvious, but many people forget which email they registered with. If you have multiple email addresses, make a note of which one you use for Valid Email Checker.
